The University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC) and UT Physicians are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon to join our growing Department of Orthopedic Surgery as an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. This is an excellent opportunity for a fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeon who values high-quality patient care, academic medicine, and teaching the next generation of surgeons.
About the Opportunity
This position is based at UTMC, a Level II Trauma Center, where the selected candidate will provide:
Acute orthopedic trauma care in a hospital setting
Non-acute and follow-up care in the outpatient clinic
Teaching and mentorship for medical students and orthopedic residents
Participation in scholarly activity and research, with institutional support
This role offers the stability of an established academic practice combined with the hands-on impact of trauma surgery—no fluff, just meaningful work done well.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive orthopedic trauma care for patients with musculoskeletal injuries
Participate in an equitable on-call rotation, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Educate and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure excellent patient outcomes
Engage in scholarly activity consistent with academic faculty expectations
Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and regulatory compliance
Required Qualifications
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
Completion of Orthopedic Surgery residency and Orthopedic Trauma fellowship
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
Eligible for or able to obtain:
Unrestricted Ohio medical license
Unrestricted DEA license
Demonstrated commitment to education, teamwork, and patient-centered care
