The Orthopaedic Research Laboratories (PI: Hua Shen) in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Washington University in Saint Louis has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate. The postdoc will work on NIH-funded multidisciplinary studies on tendon injuries and related musculoskeletal disorders.
Projects include, but are not limited to, the development of stem cell extracellular vesicle-based therapies for tendon injuries, the metabolic and biomechanical regulation of tendon homeostasis and injury response in animal models, and engineering designer extracellular vesicles for musculoskeletal diseases. The lab is a part of the Washington University Musculoskeletal Research Center (musculoskeletal.wustl.edu/) and Center of Regenerative Medicine (regenerativemedicine.wustl.edu/). Participates in routine daily functions of the laboratory as a team player.
Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent terminal degree.
Basic experience in research lab operations and training in cell and molecular biology, biomedical engineering, or a closely related field.
Highly motivated with an interest in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, and musculoskeletal research.
Experience with small animal models.
Demonstrated ability to perform independent research in biomedical sciences.
Published results in peer reviewed journals.
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.Â The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Base pay is commensurate with experience.
