The Department of Epidemiology in the University of Iowa, College of Public Health invites applications for open-rank tenure-track faculty positions (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). We welcome applicants with experience in any area of epidemiology, including clinical, interventional, and population-based studies, cancer, chronic/noncommunicable diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, nutrition, infectious diseases, molecular and genetic, maternal and child health, injury, disability, social epidemiology, health disparities, use of technology for disease monitoring and intervention, or other areas. The Department provides a strong infrastructure for Epidemiology research including prospective observational studies, interventional/clinical/pragmatic trials, and established laboratories for molecular methods.
The College of Public Health is nationally ranked as among the top 10 publicly supported schools of public health and has a diverse research portfolio including more than 20 research centers https://www.public-health.uiowa.edu/research-centers/ The College is located on the main health campus in direct proximity to the other health sciences colleges (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry). The Department of Epidemiology partners with the University's Carver College of Medicine and other health science colleges and has research and training relationships with the Iowa Department of Public Health. The University of Iowa is home to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, and to the Iowa Institute for Clinical and Translational Sciences, an NIH CTSA program hub. The College is linked to the State Hygienic Laboratory, Iowa's state public laboratory.
Core department resources for clinical epidemiology and outcomes' research include the Preventive Intervention Center, the Multicenter Osteoarthritis Study (MOST) cohort, and the Health Effectiveness Research Center. The department hosts two state-wide registries: an NCI SEER registry and CDC birth defects surveillance registry.
