Associate or Assistant Professor of Biomechanics, Tenure Track

Ohio University School of Applied Health Sciences and Wellness, Division of Exercise Physiology is seeking applications for a nine-month tenure track position that will report to the Director of the School of Applied Health Sciences and Wellness as part of the Exercise Physiology Division. With a negotiable start date (January 3, 2023 for spring semester or August 15, 2023 for fall semester), the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in biomechanics, potentially neuromechanics, and/or other relevant courses as needed within the Exercise Physiology program. The successful candidate will also mentor student research projects. They will work collaboratively within University and Community programs to promote student learning and research opportunities such as with OMNI Ohio Musculoskeletal & Neurological Institute whose overarching mission is to improve the treatment, prevention and diagnosis of musculoskeletal and neurological disorders (https://www.ohio.edu/medicine/omni/labs). The candidate will advise majors, assist in placement and supervision of interns, conduct research, apply for funding, and serve on school, college, and university committees. Preferred candidate would contribute to the climate of diversity in the College, including a diversity of scholarly approaches.

Earned doctorate with Biomechanics specialization, or related field (Exercise Physiology, Athletic Training) with a strong background in biomechanics; ABD will be considered
Evidence of successful teaching of undergraduate and/or graduate courses
Ability to engage in research and develop a focused research agenda with potential for extramural funding
Professional work experience in the field of exercise science, exercise physiology, or athletic training; possession of associated credentials (e.g., ACSM, NSCA certifications, or Ohio licensure as an AT) is preferred
Commitment to quality undergraduate and graduate education
Commitment to active learning and use of technology in the learning process
Commitment to involvement in professional organizations
