Northwestern University is seeking qualified candidates to join our leadership team as Program Director of Northwestern’s Psychiatry Residency Training Program. This position is for a full-time non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
The Northwestern psychiatry Training Program is committed to the education of the next generation of psychiatrists and training future leaders in clinical care, research, and medical education. Located in downtown Chicago, Illinois, we have 36 approved positions, including R25-funded research track positions. Our growing psychiatry department aspires to be a nationally recognized leader in innovative, patient-centered and collaborative behavioral health care; in the education of the next generation of behavioral health clinicians and academic leaders; and to be on the forefront of translational and clinical research aimed at improving mental health.
The successful candidate will strive for excellence and innovation in residency education. Responsibilities of the Psychiatry Residency Program Director include but are not limited to program administration and operations; clinical teaching and scholarly activity; resident recruitment and selection, including recruitment of diverse residents from groups underrepresented in medicine; resident evaluation and promotion; supervision and education of residents in clinical contexts; and oversight of faculty teaching residents. The Program Director also engages in direct clinical care, serving as a professional role model for our patient first mission. The Program Director’s clinical activity will be tailored to the candidate’s professional interests.

Minimum Requirements: Board certified in psychiatry with a minimum of 3 years of experience in administrative or educational leadership in academic psychiatry. Must have or be eligible for a medical license in the state of Illinois.
