The Primary Sports Medicine Service at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York seeks to appoint a dynamic physician at the assistant or associate level for the newly created youth sports medicine program at the HSS Lerner Children’s Pavilion – recently named the best pediatric orthopedic hospital in the tri-state region – at our main campus on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
This position will lead the development of a wide-ranging sports medicine program for children and adolescents including clinical care, education, community outreach and research. The program will be supported and developed in conjunction with the well- established Primary Sports Medicine and Pediatric Orthopedic services at HSS.
Active leadership role in the educational, academic, and administrative activities of the Primary Care Sports Medicine and Pediatrics Orthopedic Services.
Participate in community outreach, injury prevention and return to sports programs.
Provide comprehensive sports medicine care to children and adolescents.
Participate in team and sport event coverage opportunities.
Participate in the development of sports medicine research aimed at children and adolescents.
Current Board Certification in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine-Pediatrics combined, or Pediatrics
Completion of a Fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine
Current CAQ in Sports Medicine, or CAQ eligible if completing fellowship training
Team physician experience preferred

The HSS Primary Care Sports Medicine Service is dedicated to treating injuries in athletes and active individuals of all levels, from recreational to elite. The faculty of the Service include nationally recognized leaders in clinical care and research. The program’s physicians have worked with professional, Olympic and collegiate athletes including 7 New York area professional sports teams, as well as other national organizations such as the New York Road Runners. HSS is also designated as a FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence. HSS and the Primary Care Sports Medicine service offer the latest innovations in clinical care, performance, imaging and rehabilitation. Additionally and importantly, each physician’s clinical practice has its own support team to assist in patient care.
