Position Summary
The Division of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery is seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic research coordinator, who will provide research and statistical support to Principal Investigators and the research team. The Research Coordinator collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of pediatric orthopedic surgeons who act as Principal Investigators, research assistants, medical students, clinical and quality fellows, clinical nurses and PAs. The position reports to the Director of the Division of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery, the Department Director of Research Support and Administration and administratively to the Peds Division Manager.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with Principal Investigators and research staff on study design
Develop study protocol, objectives, hypotheses, inclusion/exclusion criteria, study timeline, procedures and work flow
Support IRB creation, patient screening and enrollment, data collection, patient reimbursement, data entry and database management, manage all single center and multicenter efforts
Conduct statistical analyses related to studies: power/sample size analyses for new studies, choose appropriate statistical tests, conduct all statistics using SPSS and/or SAS
Lead sponsored project grant efforts: grant development, submission, account creation, tracking financial spending, progress/final reports
Supervise a team of RAs and part time medical students/interns: interviewing, hiring/onboarding, training, monitoring staff schedules, productively, provide feedback and evaluations
Support abstract/manuscript writing and submission, literature review, slides and poster preparation,
Coordinate conference activities, track presentations/publications by research team, provide administrative support to investigators
Help develop and organize a research silo focused on improving our capability to mental health needs in patients with scoliosis and other musculoskeletal disorders
Other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Masters??? degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology or comparable field
Knowledge of clinical research methodology
Demonstrated independence in critical thinking and scientific achievements
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of Epic and REDCap
Proficiency in Windows operating systems including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Proficiency in statistical analysis software including SPSS and SAS
