DESCRIPTION
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is a vibrant and growing Orthopaedic Surgery Department of 48 full-time faculty and 50 voluntary faculty, 4 physicians on MSP contracts, 32 trainees, and 34 staff that supports and participates in the academic, clinical, and research mission of UC San Diego. The Department generates over $12M in clinical revenue, and $5M (NIH & other) in research grants and contracts, with total annual expenditures exceeding $30M. The Department is a comprehensive orthopaedic group located in San Diego that offers a full spectrum of musculoskeletal clinical care, specializing in foot and ankle, hand, joint reconstruction, physical medicine and rehabilitation, spine, sports, and trauma. Research expertise includes advancements in muscle metabolism and physiology, neuromuscular bioengineering, intervertebral disc, and musculoskeletal physiology and epidemiology.
Incumbent serves as Business Intelligence & Data Systems Analyst for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. This position plays an integral role in providing strategic and tactical data analysis, mining, and reporting for multi-divisional and mission usage. Incumbent applies advanced Oracle Financial Cloud (OFC), EPIC, Tableau, Clarity Clinical Data Warehouse, Cadence, RED Cap, Research, and other data modeling/information management concepts with understanding of UC San Diego campus, central office, Health System and Physician Group to resolve highly complex Business Intelligence initiatives where technical analyses of data modeling, reporting or business requirements are required across the academic, clinical, and research missions.
This position provides technical project management and high level data analytic support. Incumbent is responsible for collecting customer BI requirements, developing related reporting solutions, coordinating testing and overseeing related reporting validation in Oracle Financial Cloud, Tableau, EPIC, Cadence, and other valid systems. Positions facilitates meetings among both internal and external entities to discuss report requirements, data modeling for the report, and report solution consultation. Incumbent will research, compile, analyze and visualize performance and operational data to senior leadership across the Department that will aid in developing recommendations for short term and long-term business strategies. Incumbent designs, creates, and maintains divisional queries to be integrated into a business intelligence platform.
In collaboration with Health System, Physician Group and/or other Campus Departments, incumbent also provides consultation regarding best practices in data management, analytics, visualization, and business intelligence. Incumbent studies internal and external data and employ data mining, predictive modeling, dashboard development, and/or statistical analysis techniques to provide information, knowledge coordination, and tools that support multiple functional areas. Position manages clouds and/or servers to maintain a secure network.
Applies skills and experience as a seasoned business analytics professional to projects of medium size at all levels of complexity, or to portions of large, multidimensional projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training.
Thorough knowledge of business intelligence functions, analytics, industry standards and best practices. Experienced with full Business Intelligence (BI) development lifecycle including requirements generation and accelerated development approaches, and report documentation. Fluency in information technologies, including high level of proficiency and understanding with data mapping, data mining and statistical software. Proven statistical and data analysis skills
