Cedars-Sinai is on that list. If you are looking for something more – a robust and ongoing commitment to excellence, to people, and to the community – there is only one choice: Cedars-Sinai.
Since our earliest origins in 1902, Cedars-Sinai has evolved to become the largest non-profit hospital in the western United States. Our support of the Los Angeles community grows stronger every day with our commitment to providing superior care, breakthrough biomedical research, superlative graduate and undergraduate medical education, and wide-ranging community services and support.
Our employees make us who we are, and our commitment to them makes all the difference. Cedars-Sinai has consistently been named one of America’s Best Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, has received the National Research Corporation’s Consumer Choice Award twenty years in a row for providing the highest quality medical care in Los Angeles, and has the longest-running Magnet Designation for Nursing Excellence in California.
Our clinical programs range from primary care to specialized treatments for rare, complex and advanced illnesses. In addition, Cedars-Sinai serves the community through its Medical Network and through a variety of programs that improve the health of the most vulnerable residents of Los Angeles.
We are a leader in the clinical care and research of heart disease, cancer and brain disorders, among other areas. Pioneering research achievements include using cardiac stem cells to repair damaged hearts, developing minimally invasive surgical techniques, and discovering new types of drugs to target cancer more precisely. An example of international excellence is Cedars-Sinai’s advanced heart disease program, which performs more heart transplants than any other hospital in the world.
Along with caring for patients, Cedars-Sinai is a hub for biomedical research and a training center for future physicians, other healthcare professionals, scientists, and healthcare leaders. Cedars-Sinai attracts exceptional talent, including world-renowned physician-scientists who seek a place where they can both conduct research and see patients – the ideal formula for discovery and its translation into cures. Cedars-Sinai’s patients benefit from access to doctors at the top of their fields and from investigators who have an ideal community in which to study the impact of healthcare challenges and reflect that knowledge in their research.
Cedars-Sinai is committed to its mission of expanding the horizons of medical knowledge through biomedical research education and has a fully accredited Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, which offers a PhD as well as master’s programs. The graduate research education programs include a thriving postdoctoral program with nearly 200 postdocs, as well as a Clinical Scholars Program to provide didactic instruction in clinical research methods for senior residents, fellows and junior faculty.
For more than a century, Cedars-Sinai has served vulnerable communities across the Los Angeles region. In addition to our free health education, screening and immunization programs, we join with hundreds of community organizations to increase access to physical and mental healthcare for the otherwise underserved – including people experiencing homelessness. We also provide critically needed grants to safety-net clinics and service providers. In fiscal year 2020-2021, Cedars-Sinai’s financial contribution to community benefit totaled $723 million, providing community benefit through 5,542 targeted programs and activities for the most underserved members of our community.
