The Department of Emergency Medicine invites highly motivated and skilled Research Specialists to join the dynamic Greineder lab at the North Campus Research Complex (NCRC). The Greineder laboratory is a leader in the pharmacology of post-menopausal osteoporosis and other musculoskeletal disorders, having recently patented and published several novel technologies for bone-targeting of small molecule and biotherapeutics. These approaches enhance bone exposure, reduce off-target toxicity, and increase therapeutic efficacy in rodent models. The work has been funded by the NIAMS and spun out into a company, Skeletalis, Inc., which recently completed a successful round of seed fundraising. Our projects are translational, emphasizing intellectual property creation and clinical application, as well as scholarly output. Our lab is a member of the BioInterfaces Institute and fosters a highly collaborative and innovative research environment with ongoing projects with established laboratories at the NCRC and beyond. We're looking for passionate individuals with experience with rodent surgery who have an interest in drug development, musculoskeletal biology, and women's health disorders.
Experimental Research: Conduct experiments related to bone targeting and therapeutic development using rodent models, particularly focused on post-menopausal osteoporosis and inflammatory joint disease
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Partner with trainees and research staff within the Greineder lab, BioInterfaces Institute, and partner labs at the U-M and Mayo Clinic.
Data Management and Analysis: Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data to ensure precision and reliability; prepare findings for reports, publications, and presentations.
Protocol Development: Assist in the development and refinement of lab protocols, with a focus on post-menopausal osteoporosis and inflammatory joint disease, facilitating translational research objectives.
Research Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records and contribute to the preparation of scientific papers, grant proposals, and other necessary documentation.
Team Collaboration: Engage in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss progress, share insights, and plan future research. Promote a collaborative environment by sharing techniques and expertise.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all research complies with safety and regulatory protocols, including IACUC guidelines.
Lab Operations Support: Assist in maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies to ensure efficient and safe operation.
Innovation and Problem Solving: Contribute creatively to the development of intellectual property by proposing innovative research methodologies and applications.
Mentorship and Training: Provide mentorship to junior lab members and support training efforts for students and new staff in laboratory protocols.
