The Department of Education at Rollins College invites applications for the Richard James Mertz Endowed Chair of Education faculty position, beginning in August 2025. Our preference is to hire a Full Professor with an outstanding history of excellence in teaching, leadership, and research to join our collaborative faculty.
Responsibilities of the chair include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, program administration and development, departmental support and leadership, scholarship, student advising, service on campus-wide committees, and involvement with education agencies. The colleague who is hired for this position will teach undergraduate courses including at least one course a year in the college-wide general education program, education foundations courses, and content methods courses. They will also supervise students' pre-internship experiences and supervise student teachers. Applicants who have a background in STEM-related content areas and/or knowledge in literacy and ESOL are preferred. The teaching load will be six courses annually, which is typically three courses per semester.

Minimum Qualifications and Education:
Doctorate in an education field
Established record of scholarship
Commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence and to our liberal arts mission
At least 3 years of successful teaching experience in public elementary and/or secondary schools
Preference for those who hold the rank of full professor at their current university
