The University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) Medical School, Department of Pediatrics and Division of Infectious Diseases, is seeking a Pediatric Infectious Diseases physician for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank to serve as the assistant hospital epidemiologist and Medical Director of Pediatric Infection Control at M Health Masonic Children’s Hospital. The physician will participate in the clinical, research, and teaching activities of the Division of Infectious Diseases. Clinical responsibilities will include providing coverage of inpatient consultation services and outpatient clinical practice. Academic time will be used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate’s area of specialty/research expertise and to teach fellows, residents, and medical students.
The Medical Director collaborates with and supports the University of Minnesota Medical Center Hospital Epidemiologist and Executive Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control to maintain the hospital’s infection control plan including but not limited to executing institutional initiatives, providing expert guidance on development of infection control policies, leading epidemiologic and infectious diseases outbreak investigations, and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.
The Pediatric Infectious Diseases team at the University of Minnesota M Health Fairview provides expert clinical care for immunocompetent and immunocompromised children with a broad range of infectious diseases. Faculty in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases not only treat children – they also advance the health of children worldwide by leading groundbreaking research into the pathogenesis, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases. The division has a long-standing, highly collaborative relationship with the Division of Infectious Diseases within the Department of Internal Medicine and with the Minnesota Department of Health.
Qualifications:
MD or equivalent degree
Completed accredited fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases
Board certified/board eligible in pediatric infectious diseases
Licensed or ability to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice licensure
