The Pelotonia Engagement Consultant works under the primary direction of the OSUCCC-James Associate Director of Volunteer and Community Engagement. This position participates in the strategic direction and fundraising for Pelotonia/Team Buckeye via outreach to and collaboration with a wide variety of constituents and partners including students, faculty, staff, University Leadership, alumni and friends of Ohio State. The role plans and implements events and engages audience in order to increase participation, retain existing participation, and ensure the overall success of Pelotonia/Team Buckeye.
This position requires a flexible schedule and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and demands to include work week travel (up to 50%), the ability to work in outdoor weather conditions, and occasional evening and weekend work. Annually, the Consultant is measured on metrics such as but not limited to: number of first-time attendees; increase in volunteers and volunteer opportunities; increase in identified leadership annual giving and major gift prospects. The Consultant must have excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills, demonstrated leadership, with the ability to balance a wide variety of tasks and shifting priorities within a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Builds relationships internally and externally specific to operations of Pelotonia/Team Buckeye; cultivates, engages and solicits partners to further fundraising efforts towards assigned programs supporting Pelotonia/Team Buckeye. Meets fundraising goals through engagement activities such as: collaboration with student/faculty/staff peloton team captains, speaking to University faculty and staff members and other community members, and stewarding partners at all levels. In consultation with OSUCCC James Leadership, serves as the lead strategist to develop goals to increase ridership and volunteers, enhance Team Buckeye engagement and grow fundraising results year over year with the goal of raising $3 million dollars for the OSUCCC James. Additionally, interfaces with University, OSUCCC James Leadership as well as Pelotonia Leadership to share Team Buckeye results during the months leading up to ride weekend. Partners with Team Buckeye Co-Captain(s) to develop plans to activate the Buckeye community and raise awareness for Team Buckeye and the OSUCCC James.
Serves as the primary point of contact for James Foundation Board members and other key community leaders and volunteers for Pelotonia related needs such as identifying OSUCCC James speakers for Peloton events, serving as a resource for Pelotonia and James related inquiries and offers ongoing support for external Pelotonia engagement opportunities.

Leads team member tracking and report management, manages event volunteers and event coordination of key Team Buckeye events, organizes, tracks and executes Team Buckeye raffle program and other incentive initiatives. Collaborates with Medical Center Marketing Team to develop and execute annual campaign messaging and calendar of events. Develops, posts and manages Team Buckeye social media channel.

Work closely and collaboratively with the Volunteer and Community Engagement team on related team initiatives including, but not limited to: James Ambassadors, Next Gen, and James Foundation Board.

Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent combination education/experience.
Four (4) years of relevant experience in event planning, project management, alumni or volunteer management or related work
Be an effective public speaker and possess effective verbal and written communications skills

Two (2) years of customer relations and/or institutional advancement experience
Knowledge of and experience in program planning and event management
Familiarity and comfort with using various digital communication and engagement platforms

Microsoft Office experience
