At Stony Brook Medicine, our Nurse Practitioners in our Employee Health Services are valuable members of our team, who provide clinical services to our patient population.
Duties may include the following but are not limited to:
Performs pre-employment physical exams and medical surveillance.
Evaluates and treats patients for possible work related injuries and illnesses.
Works collaboratively with supervising physician on providing effective medical treatment and case management.
Assesses employee's safe work capacity based on history and examination.
Promotes optimal recovery through education and counseling of injured workers on pathophysiology and treatment plan.
Promotes wellness and health maintenance through positive messaging and role modeling and counseling when applicable.
Educates employees on injury prevention.
Provides continuity of care by developing, documenting and implementing effective medical treatment and disability management.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with clinic policy and applicable state regulations.
Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
Consults and follow up related to BBP and other types of exposures.
Completes patient charts and prepares discharge instructions. Ensures all charting is thorough and complete for each patient.
Complies with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, DOH).
Confidence in ability to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal injuries and illnesses.
Compassionate care and professional demeanor.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Required Qualifications:
Current NYS RN licensure. Master's Degree in Nursing. NYS Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in area of specialty. Three years appropriate experience; experience in Occupational Medicine employment requirements and injury procedures, recent experience with Cerner EMR, Health Promotion Education; must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
