Job Summary: Michigan Medicine is recruiting a fellowship-trained pediatric radiologist with strong leadership skills, high integrity, and a strong commitment to professionalism to join and lead our team as the Radiologist-in-Chief of C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Associate Chair for Pediatric Radiology. Appointment rank is commensurate with experience.
The Radiologist-in-Chief plays a critical role in leading all radiology-related operations within C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in coordination with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Clinical Officer, and Radiology Department Chair. This leader oversees the expansion and development of new radiology programs and services within C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. They coordinate the development of joint venture Radiology programs across the State of Michigan and serve as the Radiology liaison with external health systems. They help establish strategic priorities for Mott, and coordinate and implement new technology (eg, hybrid-MR operating rooms) and service lines. They ensure and maintain American College of Radiology accreditation for advanced imaging technologies.
The Radiologist-in-Chief oversees the Division of Pediatric Radiology in their capacity as Associate Chair for Pediatric Radiology in the Department of Radiology. They function as and hold the additional title of Service Chief for Pediatric Radiology. The individual is responsible for oversight and management of the clinical, educational, and research activities of the Division. Pediatric Radiology at Michigan Medicine
The Section of Pediatric Radiology is responsible for all body and musculoskeletal imaging of pediatric patients, totaling approximately 95,000 pediatric imaging exams annually. State of the art imaging equipment at the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital includes 3 MRIs, an intraoperative MRI, 3 CTs (including a new cardiac CT scanner to be installed 2023), 7 ultrasound units, 6 radiography rooms, 4 fluoroscopy/radiography rooms, and a shelled space for MR expansion. The hospital has 277 pediatric beds, diverse subspecialty outpatient clinics and a busy 31-bay pediatric emergency department.
Pediatric Radiology is one of 9 clinical divisions, which together with our robust basic science division, form the Department of Radiology faculty. With approximately 150 faculty, we consistently rank near the top nationally in NIH funding, post-graduate radiology education programs, and in the US News & World Report rankings of top hospitals. The Division provides training for fellows and our world-class radiology residents.
Responsibilities include leading and inspiring a diverse team, conducting outstanding collaborative clinical care, teaching a spectrum of learners (medical students, residents, fellows, and faculty), and performing innovative research. We have many ongoing research programs within the Division and Department, some of which involve close collaboration with our own Basic Sciences Division, and with colleagues across Michigan Medicine and the University of Michigan campus. Required Qualifications: Eligible candidates must have an M.D. or equivalent, be ABR-certified, have completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Pediatric Radiology, be eligible to obtain a State of Michigan medical license, and be excellent communicators who lead to serve. Additional subspecialty fellowship training beyond 1-year of Pediatric Radiology, evidence of progressively responsible leadership experience, and excellence across the tripartite academic missions will be positively regarded.
