Position Summary
A full-time research coordinator position is available in the Orthopaedic Biomechanics lab of Dr. Michael Harris, PhD at the Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis. Our lab investigates how bone, muscle, and movement change due to injury or disease and how we can improve treatments to preserve or restore joint health. The research coordinator will be an integral part of our team and will work on a variety of exciting projects. The main project will involve studying the longitudinal effects of hip surgery and the factors that contribute to how well patients recover. The coordinator will help design and implement projects involving human research subjects. Major responsibilities include patient recruitment, scheduling, evaluation, data input/analysis support, interpretation of results, and lab maintenance/coordination.

Normal office/research lab environment with various levels of pressure due to multiple tasks. Â Must be able to provide flexible working hours, including early morning availability and some weekend hours (rare), based upon participant schedules and lab requirements/deadlines.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Recruit, enroll, and assist with testing of study participants; participate in determining participant eligibility based on diagnostic criteria and observations in participant screening interviews.
Schedule in-person and web-based data collections with participants, other lab personnel, and imaging facilities.
Act as liaison between participants and investigators to ensure continued participation in study.
Assist participants with troubleshooting related to web-based data collections such as electronic questionnaires or wearable activity monitors.
Operate data collection equipment within a motion capture lab, and oversee equipment maintenance.
Monitor and submit required paperwork for study protocols, such as participant consent forms and data collection sheets.
Establish record-keeping systems for in-person and web-based data and ensure all phases of study/protocol are compliant with protocol guidelines, regulatory agencies, and the IRB.
Assess participantsâ™ progress in the study; analyze, investigate, and report adverse events; make decisions as when to stop participant inclusion, and/or to make and/or recommend adjustment of the protocol of particular participants; resolve IRB/protocol management issues and recommend corrective action as appropriate.
Oversee and manage tasks for student Research Assistants and work-study students.
Evaluate and interpret collected study data in conjunction with the Principal Investigator and other research team members.
Prepare oral or written presentations or reports and analyses setting forth progress trends and provide recommendations or conclusions of the same.
Perform other duties incidental to the work described herein.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in clinical research support or other relevant work experience is highly preferred.
Prior work experience involving human subjects research, preferably in clinical or biomedical research.
This position is with a biomechanics and orthopedics research group; prior education or experience related to biomechanics or computer programming is preferred.
Highly organized and possess exceptional time management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally and courteously study participants and their families, clinical staff, and the research team.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; proofreading skills.
Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough and have the ability to work independently and within a team, multi-task, and follow through on assignments in a timely manner.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of patients and patient records.
Ability and willingness to learn and use new software, especially RedCap, database, motion analysis, and Matlab/Python software, as well as laboratory instrumentation.Â

Bachelorâ™s degree; a combination of college education and/or relevant experience equaling four years may substitute for this requirement.

Salary Range
$45,500.00 - $68,400.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
