Function/Duties of Position

The purpose of this job/position is to function as a member of the Rehabilitation Services patient care team by providing occupational therapy OR physical therapy services such as ADL training, energy conservation, splint fabrication, exercise, sensory integration and perceptual/cognitive training to assist patients in improving their function in work, leisure and self-care. Therapists evaluate each patient referred, establish treatment goals and objectives, develop and implement the treatment plan, and assist in the process of obtaining DME, assistive devices and post-therapy follow-up. Therapists are expected to supervise therapy interns and to assist with other educational and research activities conducted by the department or the hospital. Therapists provide care in multiple outpatient locations.

Required Qualifications

This Relief position is eligible for some benefits under certain conditions.

• Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational or Physical Therapy; AND
• 5 years of experience in occupational or physical therapy with a minimum of 4,000 hours of direct practice and experience in hand therapy
• Certified Hand Therapist (CHT); AND
• Current State of Oregon Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist license; AND
• Current American Heart BLS CPR certification required upon hire.
• Requires the ability to develop a comprehensive, progressive treatment strategy focused on functional success in acute, community and home settings.
• Excellent communication skills, high degree of courtesy, discretion and respect for patients and fellow employees, leadership ability demonstrated by role modeling, professional demeanor, excellent organizational skills, strong triage skills.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs., to repeatedly carry equipment weighing move than 5lbs., and to walk extensively on hard and soft surfaces.
• Frequent bending and reaching to navigate medical equipment or perform treatment is required.
• Requires the ability to respond quickly and appropriately to urgent medical situations that may arise with high risk or medically complex patient populations.
• Able to use keyboard and mouse frequently for documentation and communications.
• May include travel between clinics.
• This is in a busy clinic setting.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Musculoskeletal and Neurological Practice Experience.
