Description: The University of Utah Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is seeking an emergency radiologist interested in working primarily overnight in the rapidly growing section of Acute Care Imaging (ACI). This individual is expected to read emergent neuroradiology, thoracic, abdominal, and musculoskeletal imaging studies. The intended coverage model is a ‘1 week on, 2 weeks off’ system. A voluntary option of internal moonlighting will also be available. The candidate has the choice to either work on site or remotely with a provided University PACs system. The ideal candidate will promote the clinical and academic growth of the ACI section. The candidate is expected to provide clinical services; actively engage in teaching for residents and fellows; and participate in quality improvement and value initiatives. The academic appointment will be at a rank commensurate with training and experience. Depending on the candidate's academic experience, a departmental leadership position will also be considered.
Qualifications: The candidate should be American Board of Radiology (or equivalent) certified, fellowship trained, and have a strong interest in emergency radiology. Candidates with a neuroradiology CAQ preferred though not required. Outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite. The candidate should have prior evidence of or strong interests in clinical service innovation, education, and quality improvement efforts.
Facilities and Institution: The Acute Care Imaging (ACI) section provides clinical services at the University Hospital, Huntsman Cancer Institute, an NCI-designated premier cancer center, and multiple outpatient centers in collaboration with other subspecialty sections and Emergency Medicine. The ACI section is known for excellence in clinical care, education, quality improvement, and research. The Department offers an outstanding residency program in Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology. Extensive imaging resources, including multiple MRIs, dual-energy CTs, intraoperative MRI, and PET-CT scanners are available for clinical work and research. A newly opened central reading room in the hospital has received a national award. Home PACS systems are provided to all clinical faculty members. Research opportunities abound, with a broad case mix, imaging resources, as well as the world-class unique support provided by the Utah Center for Advanced Imaging Research (UCAIR) in the Department. UCAIR offers international expertise in imaging sciences, including basic sciences, physics and engineering, MRI research, and CT and PET research.
