This position is located in the first collaborative research laboratory between stem cell science and the research/clinical units within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, under the supervision of the principal investigator the Staff Research Associate;
Will be assigned responsibility for directing the work of the lab or direct in research projects directed towards adult stem cell biology and tissue regeneration, focusing on the molecular pathways that control cell fate decisions in the satellite cell to effective regenerate adult skeletal muscle. Maintain compliance and communication with the Office of Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S).
Manage the supply orders to maintain the laboratory, perform general laboratory maintenance; assist and prepare laboratory equipment/supplies/chemicals for projects assigned by principal investigator.
Lead in the design, modifying protocols and experiments to support these studies, as well as perform cell culture and molecular research techniques including but not limited to DNA cloning and isolation, PCR, RNA isolation, RT-PCR, protein isolation, and western blot analysis. Directly assist with sample preparation and analysis of the material properties of biological specimens.
Directly assist with genotyping of mice and the associated recordkeeping. The Staff Research Associate will maintain accurate record of experiments, collect data, perform data entry, and maintain databases. Perform general molecular and cellular biological experiments and prepare reports, manuscripts and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
