What You Will Do:
Work as development partner with product design & development teams and evaluate products to the applicable requirements of international safety standards for the design of medical equipment
Partner with Product Development teams on design, development & sustainment of medical devices, including equipment for Robotically Assisted Surgeries and other types of Image-Guided Instruments to ensure the technical understanding of the required safety standards on the global scale.
Carry out design analysis to support engineering teams within the boundaries of safety standards. Assist in identification and implementation of design elements and control of conditions hampering product safety.
Understand and interpret standards from IEC60601 family (Medical Electrical Product Safety), & others.
Work on establishing process for system-level testing and certification of Robotically Assisted Surgical and Image-Guided Instruments.
Conduct & coordinate product safety testing , including EMI/EMC and Wireless.
Drive safety design reviews, participate in root cause analysis and implement appropriate actions.
Work with Product Development teams to define and develop any required test tools and fixtures in support of product safety testing and certification.
Lead communications between development teams and NRTLs (e.g. UL, CSA, ETL, TUV), other agencies.
Support launch of Stryker's products in Global Markets (such as Asia-Pacific, EU, South America, etc.).
Support patient safety/clinical evaluations in collaboration with Sales and Marketing teams
Maintain proficiency of worldwide safety regulations via research, networking and ongoing education.
Provide support during regulatory audits, as needed.
Provide support to external test houses during product evaluations.
Create and maintain appropriate reports and related documents.
Collaborate with other divisions, partner with R&D and NPD teams locally and globally.
What You Will Need:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related curriculum.
2+ years of experience in Electrical engineering, Product Safety/Compliance or similar field.
Highly organized and capable of tracking multiple projects through various stages of development
Being a resourceful, hands-on, problem solving individual with initiative and drive to get things done.
Strong technical leadership, communication, planning & organization skills with great work ethic.
Experience with medical devices
Working knowledge of regulations & standards related to Medical products (IEC60601, etc.)
Familiarity with Robotically Assisted Surgical equipment and/or Image-Guided Instruments is desired
