What you will do
In this role, you will lead the design and development of new computer and robot-assisted surgery systems, technologies, and applications to support Stryker's strategic long term product development roadmap. You will perform system design, integration, design review, verification and validation of multidisciplinary systems, technologies and feasibility efforts including robotics system, embedded software, electronics, mechanisms, cutting systems and surgical navigation systems to deliver robotic-assisted orthopedics solutions. You will also will work in close collaboration with Program Management, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Advanced Operations and Global Quality teams for Stryker customers.
You will contribute to product development from concept through release.
You will participate in creating, analyzing, and proving System Error and Performance Budgets for the robotics system.
You will develop control algorithms to support our next generation of robotics system.
You will develop kinematic and dynamic modeling of a robotic arm.
You will develop prototype and production grade software.
You will design and implement complex systems including system architectural design, relevant design documentation, test planning and execution.
You will generate innovative technologies and solutions and submit invention disclosures.
You will travel as necessary for project design meetings, supplier meetings, and professional meetings.
You will collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success as a leader on the team.
You will identify and support the creation of or improvements to procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology.
You will support and execute segments of complex product development to advance projects through the design /development/launch process.
You will deliver high quality results with passion, energy and drive to meet business priorities.
What You Need
Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Master's or PhD highly desired.
4+ years of related industry experience
Real-time programming in C or C++ highly preferred
Experience with advanced control systems of robotic or haptic devices.
Experience in robotic modeling including kinematics and dynamics
Modeling and simulation languages e.g. MATLAB/Simulink
Familiarity with a variety of sensor, actuator, motor and controller technologies
