Our Manchester UK R&D team provides leading-edge 3D computer vision, disease and anatomical modelling. As part of the Digital, Robotics, and Enabling Technologies division we provide core technology for products across Stryker including surgical robotics, image guided interventions, treatment selection, and outcome assessment.
We are looking for an ambitious and self-motivated scientific software expert. You will develop novel techniques to grow and improve core technology, as well as applying the technology in cross functional teams to deliver products. You will be capable of driving forward technically demanding projects and have the flexibility and communication skills to operate effectively within a high calibre team.
Our team offers a fascinating opportunity for the right candidate. The modelling and computer vision techniques which we utilise are at the forefront of what is possible within 3D medical imaging.
What you will do
Design and implement software components using mathematical methods such as 3D geometry, optimisation, linear algebra, machine learning and other computer vision techniques
Proactively ensure robust application of these techniques to anatomy and surgery specific systems with input from surgical and engineering team experts.
Evaluation of these techniques on large datasets.
Proactively solve problems and conduct root cause analysis on these techniques.
Provide subject matter expertise to engineers and technicians within the organization.
Effectively lead projects within a multifunctional and multinational team.
Effectively lead the software development lifecycle of software components within larger medical device systems
What you need
Highly numerate undergraduate degree.
Further degree in a highly numerate discipline preferred.
Substantial experience in mathematical methods in at least some of: 3D geometry, function optimisation, linear algebra, machine learning, computer vision, statistical modelling, robotics.
Thorough understanding of programming in C++.
Demonstrated ability to problem solve in a technically challenging area.
Demonstrated ability as a technical leader, and to collaborate with and influence others.
Demonstrated drive to deliver high quality results to established timelines.
