Job Title: Field Service Engineer - Surgical Technologies - Northern England
Department: Technical Services
Reports to: Field Service Supervisor- North UK
Location: North UK (Field Based / Office)
Main function of job: (Note: In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required)
To maintain professional and profitable repair and preventive maintenance service business on Stryker's products while ensuring compliance with the quality system and manufacturer specifications. Deliver technical assistance and documentation to internal and external customers. Act as an interface between Technical Service Manager, Customers and Field Service, whilst always being a competent and reliable contact person.
The successful candidate will be expected to represent Stryker, developing its reputation with customers. UK travel to support UK technical services team members and International travel to attend training courses may occasionally be required.
As with any role at Stryker, the Field Service Engineer will be a positive ambassador for the department, consistently demonstrating a strong work ethic and exhibiting a desire to integrate into a culture of continuous improvement.
Duties / responsibilities
Level of responsibility
Field Service Engineer has complete autonomy to manage their own diary and materials management, and is expected to do this in an efficient manner, drawing in support from the Field Service Supervisor where necessary
Repair and check electronic / mechanical Stryker products
Do annual check and calibration according to MDR on customer site
Fulfil Service contracts with planned maintenances
Installation of Stryker systems on customer site (e.g. Integrated OR)
Software & Hardware Upgrades
Delivery of technical Training to internal & external customers
Aiding Business Growth
Identifying non-contract items on-site and feeding information back to the Contracts team for contract revenue growth
Awareness of competitor activity whilst in accounts and feeding back to sales teams
Deliver exceptional service with a view to retaining repeat business
Give technical support to Product Managers and sales staff
Give technical support to Customers and Sales Department
Give IT support on certain instruments
Escalate opportunities and issues appropriately
Attend team meetings, deliver presentations to encourage team development
Efficient and thorough documentation of service activities for internal and external reference
Ensure traceability of all field-based Stryker products through reporting tools
Candidate must have a superb customer service ethic and must be driven to consistently want to deliver for customers and Stryker. The candidate will have great interpersonal skills, be responsible, self-motivated, and able to manage their workload effectively.
Equipment / software packages used:
Microsoft Office pack (especially Excel and Power BI)
ORACLE / SAP
Local IT packages, such as CRM (Salesforce) systems and mobile field service software.
Various diagnostic/maintenance equipment/packages
A good understanding for computer systems and an intuition for computer-based problem solving
Working conditions / degree of effort required:
The work will take place in a varied range of scenarios, predominantly in hospitals, but also including the Stryker Headquarters in Newbury, and on occasion other locations. The FSS will be expected to engage with key customers and stakeholders including Theatre, EBME, CSSD, Procurement and Purchasing staff and Managers.
Working conditions will be within the usual environment of these scenarios.
Travel will be a regular occurrence within the territory, in which case accommodation will be provided or arranged to the standard level within Stryker UK travel policy.
For elements of the work that fall outside of normal contractual working hours, Field Service Engineer will be expected to manage this on a flexi time basis to accommodate instances when attendance is necessary, and this occurs.
Degree of effort will always be assumed to be 100%, with the expectation of always going above and beyond for customers and the team.
Qualifications / education required:
Educated with a bachelor's degree or degree equivalent, with focus in one of the following preferable:
Engineering disciplines (for example but not limited to: Electrical / Electronic / Telecoms / Mechanical / Software)
Experience in a technical / engineering role
Ideally experience in the hospital / medical environment
Good understanding of the Stryker product portfolio
IT experience on administrative and technical level
