Support product development activities to characterize product quality/reliability
Serve as an internal expert on test methods, industry standards and regulations, and statistical/reliability tools including design of experiments, measurement system analysis, stress and strain analysis and other testing/analytical methods as appropriate
Design, develop, and implement new or improved product requirements and/or test methods to accurately characterize product performance (or component/material performance) when exposed to representative or extreme use environments and conditions.
Author test protocols, coordinate/execute testing, conduct data analysis, and/or author engineering reports
Expertise in Test Case Design, Test Tool usage, Test execution, Defect Management and Defect Tracking.
Experience in mechatronics systems testing is required
Act as the technical lead for test team members, 3rd party labs, or contractors as necessary
Conduct and/or lead root-cause analysis investigations as necessary in support of product reliability performance enhancement.
Work with engineers and technicians to integrate software and hardware portions of test fixtures and data acquisition.
Development of test systems and fixtures to support product development.
Assist the design teams in analyzing the acquired data and failures to provide actionable information to help improve design quality and efficiency.
Evaluate, recommend, procure and/or maintain various actuation and instrumentation systems, sensors, and other technologies for continuous improvements of testing systems, procedures and techniques.
Analyze test data and develop test reports in accordance with company standards.
Able to work with minimum supervision
Knowledge & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Biomedical Engineering (or equivalent) with 8 to 10 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Understanding of engineering theory and principles of design
Applies engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems
Experience developing new test methods. Strong experimentalist skills with proven ability to develop and document novel approaches to non-standard test methods.
Knowledge of IEC, EN, ASTM, BIS, MIL standards
Demonstrated written communication, verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Strong analytical ability, troubleshooting skills, and problem-solving skills, where problems are unusual and difficult
Ability to define test requirements, develop tests, perform testing, analyze test data, and document test data and analysis
Working knowledge of commonly used test instruments and reliability test methods (e.g. tensile testers, environmental chambers, instrumentation, control electronics, and DAQ equipment)
Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as scientific and technical journals, instructions and reports
Demonstrated ability to effectively present complicated technical information to small and large audiences, from peers to senior leadership, with varying levels of technical expertise
Self-motivated and capable of working under limited supervision
