What you will do
A software design engineering position in the R&D department with primary responsibilities to maintain embedded software for an existing medical product used in surgeries. The engineer works closely with peers in software engineering, software quality assurance and project and product management to develop software that meets customer and system requirements. Following defined design practices and the use of sound software engineering principles, the engineer ensures that the software products are safe, robust and user friendly.
1.3 Roles and Responsibilities
Responsible for developing and debugging embedded application using C/C++ programming language.
Updating complex software components and subsystems in a released product
Responsible for debugging the code with HW engineers
Responsible for testing the code developed (includes unit test, integration test, issue resolution, verification, and validation...). This includes writing test cases and development of test scripts.
Identify root causes of issues, determines potential solutions, and evaluates them against requirements.
Participate in software planning and estimating activities.
Responsible for delivering his work in defined timelines while achieving product quality goals
Responsible for mentoring/ training team members.
Documentation of work according to organization quality standards.
Follows the company's standards for code development and quality process and complies with quality management system procedures.
Ensures the integrity and security of patient health information, company intellectual property, and confidential data
What you need
The successful applicant should have an excellent embedded software engineering background, good attention to detail, be self-motivated and effective in a team environment with multiple responsibilities
Bachelor of Technology in Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Software engineering or Masters in related discipline.
Experience: 6-11 years
Preferable years in similar role of product development or medical devices.
Required Technical Skill Set
Programming Language - C/C++
Good understanding of Embedded Linux (Timesys, Buildroot, Yocto) and RTOS
Working knowledge of Embedded devices and communication protocols (Microcontrollers, JTAG/UART/I2C/ICSP)
Knowledge of Cross-platform build environments (CMake, ARM)
Good working knowledge with filesystems, block devices, bootloaders (UBIFS, NAND flash, eMMC, u-boot)
Sound knowledge algorithms, design patterns and data structures.
Software Version Control - Git/ Bitbucket
Documentation - Microsoft Word and Excel
Project Tracking - JIRA
Basic electronics debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Good knowledge of verification methodologies; Use of software developments tools, such as compilers, interpreters, programming editors, debuggers, source code control, defect management.
Good exposure in Test Processes and Software Testing methodologies.
