What you will do
As the Design Systems Engineer (DSE), you will support developing systems and procedures related to CAD and OnePLM(Windchill) to enhance quality and throughput in new product design and engineering. You will provide CAD Admin support for Creo and OnePLM and CAD cleansing of data files and modeling as well as hardware and software support. Develop and assist in the promotion of modeling standards and training with respect to fully digital models. Manage the relationship with the software vendors and be responsible for documenting and updating internal processes and procedures, in relation to these software tools, for the Instruments quality system.
Additional responsibilities as a Design Systems Engineer include but are not limited to:
Assess needs and recommend improvements to systems and procedures related to the generation and maintenance of Creo and OnePLM.
Support CAD system users by developing and implementing standards and training with respect to the use of CAD tools and modeling.
Research and recommend systems and solutions for OnePLM related to CAD models and software.
Know and apply advanced concepts, practices and procedures of applicable CAD usage and modeling/layout.
Develop and arrange training for Stryker Instruments' use of CAD software and related product databases.
Support CAD system users in establishing and maintaining CAD-related best practices.
Liaise between Engineering and IT on CAD tools usage; identify opportunities for system improvements and elimination of inefficiencies.
Mentor and train engineers on best practices in the use of CAD and PDM.
Serve as technical advisor and mentor.
Evaluate progress and results and recommends or develops changes in procedures, systems, and processes.
What you need
BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
4+ years of experience in CAD space
2+ years of experience as a CAD Systems Engineer or Administrator preferred
Experience with the systematization and streamlining of CAD and PDM
CAD and Modeling/layout experience in Industry that would yield a high level of expertise with CAD software
Experience with software and hardware defect tracking processes preferred
Document standards, guidelines, templates, and best practice procedures
Proficient in applying ASME Y14.5
Advanced computer hardware/software skills
Experienced in working on a project team from start to end. This experience must include user requirement development, design development, verification and validation, and quality systems for compliance.
Knowledge of System Modeling, Requirement, Risk and Test Management best practices when working with multiple concurrent programs is preferred.
Understanding of engineering lifecycle phases and design control processes.
Experience in working with Global teams across multiple world-wide time zones, with possible adjustable schedule.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Assist in bringing innovative and sustainable ideas to life.
Knowledge in the use of 3-D Models, SolidWorks or Creo and WindChill.
