What You Will Do:
As an Electrical Engineer you will support existing field products, design for manufacturability, and support the continuous improvement of Stryker products. Design and develop requirements, prototypes and solutions to deliver electrical designs for robotic and surgical applications. You will create test programs and fixtures for development tools and processes and generate detailed electrical and electronic designs and release applicable documentation.
This role works closely with manufacturing, quality assurance, other engineering teams, and program management to deliver products. Generate detailed designs and release applicable documentation. Review peer designs. Contribute to building and testing of prototypes.
Designs, validates and brings new products to market. Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety. Designs, develops, executes and evaluates fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans; creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials. Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability. Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
Create designs for printed circuit board and electrical subsystems for use within robotic systems. Advanced understanding of manufacturing principles Advanced understanding of quality assurance documentation in the medical industry. Originate designs and concepts, draft design documentation, plan and conduct relevant reviews and tests. Debug electrical circuit problems and implement corrective action. Document and release the corrective action. Investigates field problems to root cause and propose resolutions. Advanced use development tools, such as oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and soldering stations. Generate and communicate schedules to a broad technical audience. Clearly communicate status of team assignments and coordinate team tasks. Ability to shift priorities as dictated by project demands. Basic soldering and reworking electronics.
What You Need:
Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate (PhD) Electrical / Electronics Engineering degree from an ABET accredited school 4+ years experience working with design of electronics (printed circuit boards, cables) with emphasis on manufacturability.
Experience working in medical device quality system or other regulated industry Experience working with industry regulations and authoring specifications and test plans Experience with design software tools. Knowledge of printed circuit board design. Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles. Advanced ability to read and interpret electrical drawings. Knowledge of analog and digital mixed circuit design. Knowledge of embedded systems (electronics and firmware within a electro-mechanical chassis). Knowledge of programming test tools (such as Labview, Matlab) a plus. Knowledge of design tools (Altium or Orcad/Allegro design tools) a plus. Knowledge of analysis tools and statistical methods a plus.
