What you will do
The Senior Architect, Data & Analytics, will be responsible for defining the Azure Synapse Analytics architecture and strategy along the maturity levels across all functional areas, regions and data types required for Global Data & Analytics. This person will be a key leader responsible for setting the vision for Azure Synapse Analytics solution architecture and driving E2E architectural designs. In this role the Senior Architect, Data & Analytics will partner with Business Analysts and Product Owners to understand the overall business need, business processes/data (across Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Forecast-to-Supply, Finance Indirect Sales, compliance subject areas) and drive functional/requirement analysis. This position will lead overarching architectural design that supports Stryker's business needs. As Azure Synapse Analytics architecture leader, the Senior Architect will drive detailed E2E solution design (Data ingestion, Data Lake, Cloud Data Warehouse leveraging Synapse Analytics, Data Modeling, Data platform, Front-end integration, E2E performance, and security) working closely with Product Management, DevOps and Infrastructure teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Execute Global Data & Analytics Strategy by developing strategic frameworks and capability roadmaps and identifying potential technology solutions, including but not limited to Azure technology stack, that drive value to business.
Responsible for the overall systems architecture and design in Global Data Analytics focusing on Azure Synapse Analytics delivering a flexible, scalable, and high-performance platform.
Serves as domain expert in all aspects of architecting and designing high quality solutions
Responsible for analyzing functional and data requirements
Define overarching requirements and create architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing models.
Drive architectural decisions on best way to meet business analysts and end user needs, while determining the right technology stack of Azure data & analytics ecosystem, based on the business requirements and implement the right E2E design enabling self-service analytics.
Create reusable frameworks to reduce development timeline and increase architectural consistency.
Accountable for conceptual/logical/physical data models, data flow diagrams and visualize the information flow across the Global Data & Analytics landscape
Responsible for verifying the detailed technical documents and ensuring solutions are delivered based on the architectural design.
Provide guidance and mentoring to other Solution Leads, Solution Analysts and other Architects.
Perform activities following Stryker's Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) framework and processes
Collaborate with business stakeholders and IS team to ensure data architectures meet customer requirements
Promote the introduction of innovative technologies through POCs by staying on top of emerging trends related to Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics. Work with Enterprise Architecture team if any new technologies are needed to meet business requirements including evaluation of tools and staying on top of roadmaps of Azure Synapse Analytics, real-time data integration, and ML/AI technologies
Manages and coordinates with external suppliers and deployment partners to ensure they meet their contracted deliverables related to Architecture, functional/technical design, agreed upon timelines, and metrics
Provide guidance and mentoring to other Architects, Solution Leads and Solution Analysts
Financial focus on delivering activities on budget, leveraging time on value-driven activities and ensuring external resources meet contractual deliverables
Special projects/assignments as required.
What you need:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in the areas of Computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent technical field of study required.
- Master's degree in MIS, MBA or related disciplines preferred
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in Enterprise Datawarehouse (EDW) Architecture, Data Modeling, Business Intelligence (BI), Analytics and ETL (Extract, Load, Transform) framework
Experience in leading E2E architecture of EDW/BI solutions including solution design, data modeling, data integration, data masking - minimum 5-7 years
Strong expertise in Azure Data & Analytics PaaS services: Azure Synapse Analytics, MPP technology architecture, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory is required
Experience in Azure API Apps, Power-BI, Python, Cosmos DB, IoT, Azure DevOps, and knowledge of Lambda and Kappa architecture patterns preferred.
Advanced Analytics experience preferred
Experience in driving business value through data integration, transformation, and analytics
Experience in data modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical), data lineage, data quality
Experience in data warehousing concepts and Azure Synapse Analytics detailed design/modeling techniques
Expertise in designing complex enterprise data warehouse (leveraging cloud data-warehouse like Azure Synapse Analytics) leveraging MPP (Massively parallel processing) architectures.
Experience working with teams ERP (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards etc) and master data teams is required.
Deep knowledge of data related to OTC (Order to Cash), FTS (Forecast to Supply), PTP (Procure to Pay), FI (Finance) and ability to work with these ERP functional teams to understand business processes is required.
Experience and demonstrated understanding of global system rollouts - strategy and architecture,
Knowledge of and ability to drive IS methodologies such as ITIL, Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile Development is preferred
Extensive knowledge of medical devices and/or pharmaceutical industry and basic knowledge of adjacent areas in terms of processes, organization, products and IS requirements is preferred
Experience working with business analysts and executive business stakeholders is required.
Demonstrated ability to work cohesively across a cross functional and matrixed organization
Experience with process mapping, documenting complex processes and presenting them in a clear and understandable format is required.
Experience developing strategic business process methodologies to drive business results
Ability to drive initiatives and projects independently from start to finish
Excellent communications skills, including communication across Global teams
Strong knowledge of Excel Advanced, PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, Access DB, MS Project Suite (MPP/Visio/etc.)
