This is a full-time/non-exempt term position lasting six months to one year.
Posting for a Research Assistant 2 to be part of an energetic and fast-paced team of scientists in the Department of Orthopaedics, focused on Translational Research of the body's response to injury. This individual will work in conjunction with senior laboratory members and individually to conduct multiple assays measuring inflammation, coagulation, and fibrinolysis on human and animal samples. Funding for this position will be supported in part by NIH and VA grants.

Have a background in research, with 1-3+ years of bench or clinical laboratory experience.
Preferred expertise in ELISA, flow cytometry, multiplex, or plate-based assays
Must be proficient at pipetting, laboratory math, and dilution calculations.
Must be proficient at preparing basic laboratory solutions required for assay conduction.
Preferred work experience in a clinical laboratory setting and experience handling human samples.
Preferred expertise in basic cell culture procedures.
Be willing to collaborate with graduate and medical students.
Have excellent record keeping skills and organization. Applicant must be proficient in digital data handling (Excel, with preferred experience with REDCap)
Be reliable and punctual to obtain data at the designated points.
Applicants should be able to work proficiently, both independently and in a team.
This position may require the individual to:
Handle human and animal samples
Perform ELISA/Multiplex analysis on blood samples
Conduct flow cytometry-based experiments
Conduct plate-based assays to assess coagulation and fibrinolysis
Organize and maintain records of all data collected throughout studies
Manage experimental setup and preparations before assays
Analyze data and prepare publication-quality figures
Collaborate with clinical personal such as nurses to obtain patient samples
Maintain patient research records in a HIPPA-compliant manner
Assess and store clinical data within a secure REDCap Database.
