The Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery has an opening for an experienced, self-motivated, team orientated Medical Assistant. This role will be to provide skilled support and work collaboratively with other members of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery Team.
Participation in the department’s Lean initiatives, Service Excellence programs, M-learning compliance, specific procedure competencies and knowledge of regulatory agency requirements will also be expected.
This position will include a variety of patient and provider support tasks including but not limited to:
Entering x-ray/PT orders
Utilizing an electronic medical record to record the above information and document/reconcile the following:
Enter chief complaint
Enter vital signs
For applicable females, document date of last menstrual cycle
Support in-clinic procedures
Assist with injections
Perform scheduled infection control maintenance of patient care items and equipment
Outside imaging processing
Assist patients with check-in and surveys, including entering them into the system
Fitting off the shelf durable medical equipment
Managing service in baskets and telephone messages
Completion of paperwork including, but not limited to: FMLA, insurance, workers’ compensation, work/school notes, Work Connections, handicap permit forms, etc
Clinic preparation including printing of last clinical note (DMI); patient labels, as well as assist with video visit appointment preparation as needed
Other duties as assigned
The preferred candidate will have graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant Program OR a combination of related education and 0-1 year of experience. The preferred candidate will have demonstrated exceptional interpersonal communication skills, superior customer service, an exemplary attendance record, the ability to manage stress effectively, a superior work ethic and handle multiple responsibilities. The candidate should be proficient using the Microsoft suite products with a typing speed of 50 wpm.
Previous Orthopaedic experience is helpful. Previous experience working with MiChart/Epic care /Cadence as well as knowledge of University policies and procedures is helpful.
8:00 am – 5:00 pm (may vary dependent upon clinical needs)
Monday – Friday (with the exception of meetings or coverage when necessary. We utilize flex scheduling to off-set hours worked in excess of 8 in any one day).
This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
