The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC) and Childrenâs Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) in the Department of Surgery, in the Division of Surgery, are actively seeking a full time faculty member for the position of CHLA Department Head of Surgery, at the rank of Associate/Professor of Surgery.
The Department of Surgery is one of the countryâs most comprehensive programs. CHLA surgeons perform both general and highly specialized proceduresâeverything from tonsillectomies to transplants. Current clinical providers include 65 fullâtime surgical medical staff. The department hosts surgical training programs for Congenital Cardiac Surgery, Pediatric Neurosurgery, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Pediatric Otolaryngology, Pediatric Oralâmaxillofacial Surgery, Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, and Pediatric Surgery. The department also has an active research program with over $23 million in extramural grant funding.
The SurgeonâinâChief provides leadership for Department of Surgery and contributes to the success of CHLAâs mission, vision and values.
The SurgeonâinâChief collaborates with many stakeholders including, but not limited to: division chiefs, medical directors and program directors; division physicians, researchers, and clinicians; physician leadership including other department chairs and division chiefs, the Chief Medical
Officer, the Chief of Medical Staff, etc.; the Chief Scientific Officer; department and division administrators; hospital executives; nursing and clinical leaders; hospital and medical group staff; leadership, administrators, researchers and investigators of TSRI; the designated institutional official and teaching administration; residents, fellows and other learners; administrators at USC and the KSOM.
