The Coordinating Center for the Major Extremity Trauma & Rehabilitation Consortium (METRC) housed in the Department of Health Policy & Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is seeking a Research Assistant. This is a casual/ on-call position.
The Research Operations Assistant will support the day-to-day operations and quality improvement and strategic initiatives of the METRC Coordinating Center, an orthopaedic trauma clinical trials consortium. Under the direction of the Coordinating Center Operations Director, the Research Operations Assistant will:
Assist in production, review, and tracking of quarterly study invoices to ensure consistency across studies and validity of payments
Draft and review of task order contract templates to ensure consistency across studies
Assist in gathering data for and drafting technical reports to sponsoring agencies
Produce agenda documents and/or formatted slide decks or other presentation materials for important meetings, e.g., the Executive Committee, the Consortium Committee, etc.
Regularly review the METRC website to ensure that all content is accurate and current
Update the METRC website with new ‘public’ content and post study materials to the web-based study document repository
Assist in development and dissemination of a quarterly METRC newsletter
Regularly perform quality control checks of the consortium’s administrative database
Identify and address missing or incorrect administrative data
Work with Coordinating Center Informatics Core to incorporate new forms and/or fields into the administrative database as necessary
Generate regular queries and reports from the administrative database, e.g., weekly study status reports, etc.
Regularly perform quality control checks of the listservs
Regularly perform quality control checks of user access, e.g., website access, REDCap access, etc.
Produce outlines and/or drafts of Policy & Procedure Manual content based on input from Operations Director or other Coordinating Center directors
Produce training materials for the METRC Policy & Procedure Manual
Assist in the preparation and implementation of ‘FDA mock audits’
Assist the Protocol Development & Implementation Core with ad hoc study implementation tasks such as materials distribution, data quality reviews, etc.
Assist the Informatics Core with ad hoc projects such as testing REDCap development databases, production of informatics documentation, etc.
Bachelor's degree in related scientific or business/managerial required.
Some related experience required.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits (semester hours) may substitute for one year of experience.Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Prior experience or graduate degree in related discipline preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The candidate should have excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills. Some professional experience working within a team setting, juggling multiple priorities; experience may be in the form of short-term (e.g., summer) jobs, internships, or other related professional experiences.
