Position Description The University of Washington's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine invites applications for musculoskeletal (MSK) physiatrists with expertise in spine and general MSK medicine to join our Sports & Spine Division at the Clinical Assistant Professor or Clinical Associate Professor level, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time position based at UW Medical Center-Northwest, with an annual service period of 12 months (July 1-June 30). Anticipated start date would be on or around September 1, 2021. This position presents an excellent opportunity for an MSK physiatrist who wishes to practice in a collaborative and multidisciplinary academic setting. Responsibilities of the MSK physiatrist will include a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions within the areas of sports and spine medicine. The position will focus primarily on non-operative spine care, including interventional procedures, with a secondary focus on general musculoskeletal care. There also is opportunity for MSK ultrasound and peripheral injections. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service. The clinical environment is an outpatient practice embedded within an academic department. The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine's Sports & Spine Division is a well-established group practice with 16 faculty members across several clinic locations, including at UWMC-Northwest, Harborview Medical Center, Husky Stadium, Eastside Specialty Clinic, and South Lake Union. Qualifications Candidates should meet the following requirements: - MD, DO, or foreign equivalent and eligible for full medical licensure in Washington State
- Board certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation
- Successful completion of fellowship training in sports medicine or spine/pain
- Experience with interventional procedures including lumbar spinal injections
- Expertise in rehabilitation medicine, with strong clinical experience
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
