The Department of Orthopedics at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences New Jersey Medical School, located in Newark, NJ, invites applications for full time appointment at the Instructor level.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, post-doctoral experience, excellent communication skills and a record of productivity in orthopaedic-related research. Applicants with expertise in biomechanical analysis of skeletal tissues and histological analysis of skeletal tissues are encouraged to apply. He/she will be expected to interact with orthopaedic surgeons, research faculty, residents, and other research staff to facilitate initiation and completion of research projects, data analysis, and report or manuscript submission. Operational knowledge of current equipment and software available within the Department of Orthopaedics would be beneficial.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Maintain the MTS Acumen 3T bi-axial mechanical testing system and associate equipment
Instruct, perform and supervise use of the Acumen mechanical testing system and associated equipment
Maintain equipment necessary for the preparation and analysis of histological samples
Instruct, perform and supervise use of equipment needed for histological sample preparation and analysis
Maintain digital and film based X-ray imaging equipment
Maintain surgical equipment
Instruct and assist with animal surgical and related procedures
Assist with cadaveric studies as needed
Assist Department of Orthopaedic Faculty and Staff on experimental design and data analysis
Assist Department of Orthopaedic Faculty and Staff with manuscript, abstract, and grant submissions
Maintain a database of faculty, resident, and student publications and presentations
Assist with IACUC and IRB submissions as needed
Maintain accurate and up-to-date laboratory notes
Adhere to Rutgers policies
