Residency Program Coordinator provides leadership, accountability, and coordination of the residency training program and applies knowledge about curriculum, requirements and educational activities to coordinate professional health education programs for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Position makes decisions and recommendations on procedural and organizational issues and participates in the planning, coordination, and implementation of all aspects of the programs, including educational outcome measurements for ACGME. Position maintains and submits all documentation for program accreditation through Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), board specialty and other accreditation agencies as required and assures compliance with accreditation requirements.
Coordinator analyzes educational resources, practices and policies and works with Program Director(s) to improve curriculum based on resident annual evaluation results. Assists with evaluation and implementation of residency complement requests to ACGME, coordinating same with UCSD GME office. Position complies/tabulates data for surveys, questionnaires, and other information as requested. Manages and coordinates program logistics including schedules, curriculum, evaluation process, training agreements, resident activities in coordination with the Program Director(s). Position recognizes quality improvement strategies and proposes recommendations. Responsible for annual orientation and facilitating review of applications, interview process including recruitment interviews, itineraries, travel arrangements for match process. Coordinator facilitates meetings and composes, prepares, and distributes schedules, meeting minutes, agendas, etc., as requested.
Assists in creating guidelines and policies and procedures for residency program and ensures compliance. Position works in conjunction with the Vice Chair of Administration to develop an annual budget and oversees and submit transactions and expense requirements and ensure compliance with UC policy. Position is responsible for maintaining key files and timekeeping requirements. Responsible for the coordination of medical student program. Position completes other duties as assigned. Applies knowledge about curriculum, requirements and educational activities to coordinate professional health education programs. Coordinates and maintains program operations, which may include teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation.
A Bachelor's Degree in related area; and/or equivalent experience/training
Three (3+) or more years of program coordination experience in an academic and/or research setting.
Demonstrated experience with ACGME/GME programs.
Thorough knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. knowledge of health professions education program requirements. Knowledge of health professions education industry.
Proven knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Ability to develop and implement processes and systems. Knowledge of the administrative and operational implications in a program.
Demonstrated experience and documented excellence in oral and written communications skills; includes active listening and critical thinking.
Demonstrated knowledge of educational software and platforms. Demonstrated ability to analyze and seek solutions to enhance the user experience.
