The University of South Alabama (USA) Family Medicine department is seeking faculty member (Assistant Professor) that will provide care with an emphasis on general acute, episodic, and chronic medical care, including but not limited to young adult health issues, women’s health, musculoskeletal injuries, infectious disease, dermatology, as well as psychosocial and mental health issues in an integrative, evidence-based health model. The physician works as a key member of a team with other clinical staff, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, medical assistants, athletic trainers, and additional clinical support staff, and also provides consultation to members of the clinical team. •The faculty member will provide direct teaching for learners regarding musculoskeletal and general family medicine content. •The faculty member will be qualified and will run an accredited primary care sports medicine fellowship program and will maintain certification. She/He will work with community physicians to provide the best educational experience for the fellow. •The faculty member will participate in resident education for Family Medicine, Pediatrics and Orthopedic departments. •The faculty member will also maintain a clinical practice exclusive of his or supervisory duties which includes collaborating with the orthopedics department. •The faculty member will be expected to maintain, cultivate and grow the outreach sports medicine program. This includes serving as a team physician for multiple local high schools and directing their Preparticipation physical exams and emergency actions plans and coordinating resident game coverage. There is also a regional concussion education and treatment program in place for this candidate to take over and grow. There may be opportunity to help with the local University athletics as well. •The faculty member will participate in student education in the office, hospital, and other settings as training and service needs dictate. •The faculty member will participate in direct supervision of resident patient care in the office, hospital, and other settings as training and service needs dictate. •Other duties as assigned: The faculty member will perform other duties as assigned by the chair.
