The biostatistician will work under the direction of the Director and Co-Director of the Physical Therapy Data Center in support of clinical and rehabilitation research conducted by faculty and graduate students in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences.
The individual will be responsible for planning and implementing methods for the management and analysis of simple and complex clinical research data. Other duties include assessing data quality, data cleaning, constructing analytic data sets, reporting for multicenter clinical trials, determining sample size requirements, assisting in manuscript and abstract preparation, contributing to grant applications, and providing statistical guidance for graduate student research projects.
The biostatistician will be part of a team of statisticians, data managers, and systems analysts that serve and support students and faculty within the School, the University, and multiple external research projects. The biostatistician must possess expert knowledge of research methodology and statistical programming and be able to work with a high level of autonomy.
Requirements include a Masters of Science Degree in biostatistics, statistics or related field with knowledge of statistical packages (SAS, R, Stata, SPSS). A combination of relevant experience and education may be substituted for a Masters Degree. Three to five years of experience collaborating on clinical research projects, particularly in the area of statistical design and analysis and evidence of past collaboration with established clinical researchers is required.
The candidate must also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups with diverse backgrounds and training.
