Rutgers, New Jersey Medical School is seeking a Lead Technologist Radiology for Orthopaedics. The primary purpose of the Lead Technologist position is to work with the Chief Technologist to coordinate schedules and to help to supervise the daily operation of radiography services. Emphasis is on: providing healthcare services by using medical imaging techniques and Bi-Planar X-ray Videography system to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients; coordinating the allocation of technical staff on specific shifts; ensuring the verification and completion of exams, exercising professional judgment in the performance of services and maintain a demeanor complementary of medical ethics.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Works with the Vice Chair of Research to coordinate schedules and supervise the daily operation of radiography operations. a. Coordinates the workflow of all technical staff for all radiographic procedures. b. Ensures that the staff, faculty and residents have the requisite supplies. c. Serves as a liaison between staff, faculty and residents . d. Oversees radiologic services, e. Maintains technical aspects of radiologic safety and evaluates accuracy and quality of x-rays f. Recommends new equipment, equipment modification, and maintenance of equipment healthcare services. g. Performs all duties of technologist per established protocols and procedures as established by the department and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. h. Assists as required in the performance of radiologic exams. i. Operates all equipment safely and efficiently and reports any equipment problems promptly. j. Maintains room cleanliness and all necessary supplies for assigned work area. k. Records pertinent information to maintain accurate records.
Exercising professional judgment in the performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary of medical ethics. a. Maintains a positive representation of the Department to all through professional interactions. b. Maintains professional standards by participating in in-services, meetings and continuing education. c. Performs clerical functions, as needed d. Promotes a positive work environment.
Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, lower level professionals, and technicians in laboratory, instrumentation, etc to develop the skills necessary.
Minimum Education and Experience:
The successful candidate must be a graduate of an approved school of radiologic technology and a registered technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist, with a minimum of four years experience as a technologist.
Excellent knowledge of radiography and, RIS and PACS is required. 1. Must be a graduate of an approved radiology technology program 2. NJ State license and ARRT certification and current active registration 3. Four (4) years experience as a technologist 4. Must be certified in the service to which the candidate is applying: a. MRI b. Cat Scan (CT) c. Angiography d. Mammography e. Ultrasound f. General Radiography 5. Annual fit testing is required 6. Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR.
