The Department of Orthopaedics at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill (UNC) is seeking an academic upper extremity surgeon focusing on upper extremity care. This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team of upper extremity surgeons and advanced practice providers to create a national level program focused on education, research and clinical care.
The upper extremity surgeon will participate in the development of a robust program. They will participate in a clinical program that serves the academic medical center, community practices and the wider healthcare system that spans the state of North Carolina. They will provide the highest quality of patient care, while creating an academic environment that is positive and inclusive for faculty and learners.
The surgeon will work with 3 other full-time faculty, an advanced practice provider, and cross departmental with other surgeons focusing on clinical growth, program development and performance to create a robust program creating a high quality team- across the UNC healthcare system. The division currently serves 7,000 + patient per year and performs 1,300 operations at the main UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill and UNC Hillsborough Hospital with plans to expand to an ambulatory surgery center in neighboring Wake county in 2020.
Education and Experience:
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills or experiences: Board Certified or Board eligible Fellowship in Hand Surgery, Shoulder and Elbow or similar.
