JOB TITLE: Staffing Specialist LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center Hospital DEPARTMENT: Nursing Administration WORK SCHEDULE: Evenings/Nights WORK TYPE: Part Time
JOB SUMMARY: Coordinates the staffing for inpatient nursing units; enters and maintains unit schedules, maintains numerous nursing logs, payroll records and related demographic information. Works under the direction of the Administrative Supervisor and unit Operations Manager.
Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interaction. Foster a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates ability to type, read, writes, perform simple arithmetic calculations, and follow oral and written instructions.
Demonstrates knowledge of office procedures, good organizational and interpersonal skills, and ability to work in stressful situations.
Demonstrates ability to work and make decisions independently. Knowledge of basic computer skills, word processing and spreadsheet software required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma required.
Minimum of 1 year clerical experience required. Previous professional experience in a health care environment preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in an office environment.
May require long periods of time in a sitting position.

GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER: (GMC), located Danville, Pa., the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.
