Job Duties 50-80%: Teaching and research mentoring in musculoskeletal physical therapy content, to include mentoring DPT students in research and service activities. This individual will be responsible to lead or co-lead the musculoskeletal content in the DPT curriculum, including course development, course coordination, and direct teaching in the professional doctoral (DPT) curriculum. This individual is expected to contribute as a faculty liaison for students in the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic, an inter-professional student-led community clinic for the underserved.
20%-50%: Research, University and professional service, and faculty governance commensurate with the needs of the Division, and the skill set and interests of the individual. Greater research time may be allocated with funded research project support. Other duties may be assigned to meet the needs of the Division. For interested candidates, up to 25% clinical time may be possible, contracted directly as a percentage of the full faculty appointment. Development of residency, fellowship, or other advanced training programs in orthopaedic and sports related content is also possible.
Annually renewable, contract (non-tenure track) faculty position, to serve as the musculoskeletal course content lead or co-lead for the Division of Physical Therapy, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, at the University of Minnesota. The position is full time, 12-month retirement replacement, at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, commensurate with experience.
The successful applicant must have a physical therapy degree with eligibility for licensure in Minnesota, APTA membership, and experience teaching musculoskeletal related content in a DPT program. Previous experience in clinical practice as an orthopedic physical therapist is required. Preferred applicants will have an academic doctorate. Applicants with a DPT degree and willingness to pursue an academic doctorate may be considered. Certification as a clinical specialist is also preferred. The successful applicant must have a commitment to innovation and excellence, a team-oriented mindset, excellent interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated capacity for collaboration across the academic setting.
