Job Description (Duties): This position will work with other study team members on an NIH funded study for the management of mechanical low back pain. Requires in-depth physical therapy related knowledge and skills related to research, evaluation and management of spine pain conditions. Decision making guided by experience, study protocols and professional based guidelines.
Research (95%) • Works and meets routinely with the Study Investigators and other study staff to create plans and coordinate resources to ensure successful completion of a multi-year, multi-site clinical trial. Participates in establishing short-, intermediate- and long-range goals for training, implementation and follow up activities to facilitate successful study completion within timelines and budget--10% • Works with the Study Investigators and other study staff to design, develop and implement multifaceted recruitment plans which include diverse populations. Establishes short-, intermediate- and long- range recruitment plans with accompanying budgets, to meet target goals within study timelines and fiscal constraints; develops and maintains methods for managing recruitment plans; devises content for social media, print and web-based advertising, and community outreach; assists with the preparation of recruitment reports; and develops alternative strategies and implements as needed--10% • Works with Study Coordinator to coordinate resources to ensure timeline execution of research screening and data collection activities. Includes evaluating potential study participants to determine eligibility; performing informed consents, telephone and in-person clinical screenings informed by evidence based professional guidelines; performing follow up data collection including blinded objective physical examinations; and performing related training and fidelity monitoring of study staff --35% • Administers manual spinal manipulation/mobilization and supported self-management interventions (exercise prescription, goal-setting, etc.), and other non-drug approaches, according to study protocols and informed by evidence based professional guidelines--30% • Participates in the analysis and interpretation of study related data; performs scientific literature searches and reviews; prepares reports, presentations, and publications of research f dissemination; works with Study Investigators to develop and plan new avenues of investigation; assists in drafting proposals to secure research funding —10% Other duties as assigned (5%)

Required Qualifications: Masters degree (or higher) with at least 2 years of research related experience or BS/BA and 4 years of related experience Licensure as a Registered Physical Therapist (RPT) Clinical experience with manual therapy
Preferred Qualifications: Speciality training and certification in manual therapy (e.g. Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT) or equivalent) Previous experience working in research settings Previous experience working with spinal pain conditions At least 4 years of clinical experience with manual therapy
