Acts as a liaison between patient care units and the Department of Foodservices. Supports Call Center activities. Responsible for the distribution of patient menus. Distributes patient trays and nourishments. Assists patients with tray setup. Ensures a professional and appropriate service standard while performing the job. Follows system wide standards as well as department specific service standards.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Directly accountable to the Patient Foodservice Manager.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrated thorough understanding of therapeutic diets and foods allowed on the 12 major diets recognized by the Foodservice Department.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions when given and perform arithmetic calculations.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative relations with those contacted in course of work. Must display initiative in completion of activities.
Ability to participate in required nutrition training provided by Clinical Nutrition and pass the associated competency test with a minimum score of 80%.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience in food service, dealing with the public and with special diets is desirable. Previous computer experience preferred.
On-the-job training is provided.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is typically performed in a hospital environment. Stands and walks most of the day. Stoops must be able to push, lift and carry supplies.
