Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist II (RTS II). The Research Teaching Specialist II is responsible for the management of the Department of Orthopaedics laboratory area overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring compliance within safety, animal research, and staff training. The RTS II performs a significant amount of benchwork, research design and experimentation, manuscript and presentation editing, and project management activity in addition to training students and junior staff in safe and effective research practice.
Assists in the establishment of performance standards as well as the selection of methodology and instrumentation.
Performs various research and technical operations independently or as assigned.
Assists with the preparation of proposals, formal applications and justifications for grant applications.
Assists with the development of budget proposals for the laboratory area.
Compiles and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations pertinent to research activity.
Coordinates the work of professional and non-professional staff.Supervises and conducts performance evaluations of non-professional staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in a related science required, plus at least 2 years of research experience relating to physiology in animal models and also cellular, molecular biology and biochemistry techniques. Or Bachelor's Degree in a related science plus at least 3 years related research experience as shown above.
