The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (APRN) provides comprehensive primary care services, acute care services, and extended care services in the area of nursing and medicine for individuals and their families as outlined in the Collaborative Practice Agreement. The APRN has prescriptive authority in the State of Florida under a practice agreement with a supervising physician, which includes ordering, conducting, and interpreting appropriate diagnostic testing. Responsible for identifying patients' alterations in health, assessing response to treatment, communicating appropriate data, implementing nursing intervention, and preparing for potential complications. The APRN supports the clinical operation of the department with primary focus on clinical services. The practitioner will be responsible for coordinating delivery of patient care in collaboration with the physician; adheres to AdventHealth's Corporate Compliance Plan and all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Master of Science degree in Nursing
Graduate of a Nurse Practitioner program
One to five years of experience in respective discipline
If in Cancer (Thoracic) – Five years' experience in/as Oncology or Thoracic nursing/nurse practitioner
If in Cancer (GYN) – Five years' experience in/as Oncology or GYN nursing/nurse practitioner
If in Cancer (Head/Neck) – Five years' experience in/as Oncology or Head/Neck nursing/nurse practitioner
If in FHA/Kids' House – Experience in evaluating and treatment of child abuse and neglect or agree to receive training deemed necessary by department for evaluating alleged abuse or neglect
If in FHFC/Pediatric Palliative Care - Five years' nursing experience, including care of children with complex, chronic, and/or life-threatening conditions and those at end of life; and Master's degree leading to ability to be certified as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Family Nurse Practitioner
If in FH Infusion Center – Three to five years' experience in Oncology nursing
If in Palliative Care – Five years' nursing experience, including care of patients with complex, chronic, and/or life-threatening conditions and those at end of life; and Master's degree leading to ability to be certified as Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner
Public speaking experience (Preferred)

If in Heart Failure Clinic – National Adult Nurse Practitioner certification by either the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) within 5 years of hire as an advanced nursing practitioner.
If in Diabetes – Certified Diabetes Educator (Preferred)
If in FHFC/Pediatric Palliative Care – Hospice and palliative care certification(Preferred)
If in HBO2/Wound Care – Credentialed as Wound Care Specialist or Hyperbaric nurse; credentialed as Gerontological Nurse Practitioner(Preferred)
If in Transplant – Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator or Certified Clinical Transplant Nurse certification(Preferred)
If in FH Infusion Center /Orlando Med Staff (working in GYN/ONC) – One of five oncology certifications by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC); credentialed as an Infusion Nurse; Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AONC) highly preferred or Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) or Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) (Preferred)

Performs complex assessments of patients' health status through physical exam reviews, patient histories, diagnostic tests and procedures, and reviews lab results and other critical data; collaborates with interdisciplinary teams. Initiates orders for medications, laboratory, and other diagnostic testing and medical treatments on appropriate forms. Facilitates optimal length of stay and appropriate utilization of Hospital resources; facilitates efficient and comprehensive discharge planning. Promotes inpatient throughput.
Navigates a diagnosed patient from the diagnostic phase through the treatment and follow-up phases, assuring patient has appropriate/timely medical/supportive services. Diagnoses acute and chronic conditions affecting all organs systems. Effectively communicates treatment plans and/or procedures to patients/families through teaching and counseling, as needed.
Prescribes interventions and performs therapeutic measures to ensure the appropriate individualized plan of care is implemented. Applies knowledge of age-specific needs i.e.: pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients related to plan of care interventions and patients' responses to care. Identifies patients' knowledge deficits and contributes to education.
Attends medical rounds (or Tumor Boards) with physician/surgeon and pharmacist. Promotes continuity of care through communication with consulting/referring physician(s). Coordinates treatment plans with other caregivers. Facilitates discharge of patients in clinical area of specialization.
Writes and/or dictates progress notes, procedure notes, histories, physical examinations, and transfers/discharge summaries in accordance with medical policies.
Handles on-call responsibilities, as scheduled by the department. Readily available for emergency evaluation and stabilization of patients, as needed.
Participates in data collection, analysis, and presentation. Evaluates the processes and outcomes to enhance the delivery of excellent, cost-effective health care and establish program goals including clinical outcomes, volume/growth, and revenue. Incorporates and promotes evidence-based practice for optimal clinical outcomes.
As appropriate, represents AdventHealth in community education and outreach programs, i.e. speaking engagements, health fairs, corporate affiliation events, etc. Assumes responsibility for professional growth by attending mandatory nursing/hospital in-services, maintaining knowledge of current trends in medical therapy pertaining to area of clinical specialization, and evaluating/using research findings to improve nursing/ medical practice.
IF IN FHA KIDS/KIDS' HOUSE, ALSO:
Provides diagnostic evaluations and medical consultations regarding abused and neglected children. Prepares written reports of evaluations and consultations.
Provides depositions and court testimony, as requested.
Successfully completes continuing education standards that include a minimum of eight hours of training per year in child abuse, abandonment, and neglect.
IF IN DIABETES, ALSO:
Order/provide diabetes self-management training; prescribe blood glucose monitors and supplies.
Initiate endocrinology/diabetology consults for patients with unresolved hyper/ hypoglycemia and/or diabetes complications affecting the course of treatment.
Collaborate with attending physicians to assure the achievement of performance measures for the diabetes population.
Coordinate and assist with clinical research at the request of AdventHealth.
IF IN ‘MATURING MINDS’ GERIATRIC CARE PROGRAM, ALSO:
Assesses cognitive, physical, psychological, and emotional condition and needs of the client; Coordinates with client's primary care physician and arrange for neuro specialist care; Arranges for supportive services; Manages and coordinates the care and services across specialties, as needed; Conducts ongoing assessments to determine if the client is receiving the most appropriate level of care and make changes as necessary; Provides guidance to secure all eligible benefits to the patient; Navigates through complex medical systems; Provides support and education for patient and families; and Connects to supportive resources throughout the community.
IF IN FHFC/PEDIATRIC PALLIATIVE CARE, OR PALLIATIVE CARE ALSO:
Provide palliative care for patients facing chronic, complex and/or life-threatening conditions and their families at various locations within the flow of patient care.
Participate in comprehensive medical and psychosocial evaluation of patients and families, skilled and meticulous symptom management, and discharge planning and continuity of care.
Serve as clinical and educational role model and mentor.
Formulate, implement, monitor, evaluate and modify palliative care plans with input from palliative care team and other collaborating care providers.
Work with patients and families to determine their understanding of the patient's condition, proposed treatment plan and treatment options.
Advocate for improvements in palliative care through participation in professional, private, and governmental groups.
Act as resource person for clinical information and education as requested by community agencies.
Participate in pediatric palliative care research, including quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Engage in active and frequent self-care activities for personal and professional growth and longevity.
IF IN FHFC/INFUSION CENTER/ORLANDO MED STAFF (WORKING IN GYN/ONC), ALSO: Aligns chemotherapy practice standards with the ‘Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Guidelines and Recommendations for Practice’ published by ONS.
Aligns infusion practice with the ‘Infusion Nursing Standards of Practice’ published by INS (Infusion Nurses Society).
Manages all types of chemotherapeutic agents, IV therapies, blood components and related toxicities.
Knowledgeable about current research and evidence based practice in oncology/infusions and recommends changes in practice as appropriate. Incorporates research findings into policies and procedures and standards of care as appropriate.
