The 7 North East unit is comprised of dedicated and skilled professional nurses trained to care for and deliver services to patients with a range of medical diagnosis, we care for pre-operative and post-operative general surgical / musculoskeletal surgery patients and musculoskeletal trauma patients. The diagnoses are: pneumonia, wound infection, cellulitis and post R/O MI from telemetry units. The general surgical procedures are laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic gastroplasty or banding, mastectomy, and colon resection. The most common musculoskeletal diagnosis &/or procedures are fractured hips pre & post surgery, fractured extremities, biopsy & resection bone tumors.

The Registered Nurse is an expert whom assumes responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care for the specialty patient population.
You will Provide and accurately document direct and indirect patient care services that ensures the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients. Provides care and patient education on disease prevention and restorative measures.
You will deliver direct and indirect patient care services, including, but not limited to, the administration of medications and therapeutic agents necessary to implement the treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitative plan of care.
You will Performs skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy and the initiation of peripheral venous access.
You will observe signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to medications/treatments, general behavior, and/or general physical condition. Assesses the signs, symptoms, reactions, behaviors, or general appearance to figure out normal versus abnormal characteristics. Plans and implements care based on observations. Implements appropriate reporting, referrals and care in accordance with standardized procedures. Initiates emergency procedures when indicated.
You will provide care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. Identifies patient's readiness for learning and ability to follow directions/instructions and give consent. Identifies and assesses patient safety concerns with respect to age and developmental considerations. Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patients.
