The job is a research assistant position. This is an ideal job opportunity for graduating college students with either a biology or a biology-related background who are interested in a career in research, specifically musculoskeletal. Responsibilities require laboratory research and mentoring within the Penn State Orthopaedic Department at the College of Medicine, in Hershey PA. Occupational duties include Lab management, equipment management and ordering, mouse colony management, breeding and genotyping, assisting in data collection, conducting laboratory research experiments. Performing data synthesis and manuscript writing is a plus. The ultimate goal is to grow within the job to a lab manager level. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2 depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. This is a fixed-term position with an excellent possibility of annual renewal depending on performance.
