Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Team Leader - Bldg Services.
Under the direction of the Facilities Director and Operations Manager, the Team Leader oversees and performs a broad range of electrical services and maintenance for various hospital areas including clinics. Responsible for following procedures and techniques of the electrical trade and OSHA throughout the Medical Center. Organizes, leads and schedules work assignments for mechanics, carpenters, painters and electricians.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Studies blueprints and diagrams to ascertain layouts, location and specifications of items to be installed, and notifies the supervisor of any discrepancies.
Responsible for understanding electrical symbols. Reads and writes electrical symbols. Accurately reads and understands all electrical drawing as requested.
Represents the department in providing technical assistance for new construction projects and the testing of new products.
Orders of supplies and equipment - Responsible for maintaining adequate level of stock for electrical maintenance use. Orders supplies and equipment through his/her manager to maintain adequate level of stock for electrical and maintenance purposes. Responsible for the inventory and safe usage of equipment and tools assigned to the Facilities Engineering Department.
Ensures that the Operations Manager is kept aware of the performance of each electrician, maintenance mechanic, painter and carpenter on an ongoing basis.
Ensures completed preventive maintenance records are given to the Operations Manager/ Facilities Operations Coordinator for review and filing.
Responsible for overseeing and ensuring the completion of department scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical systems, emergency power supply system testing (emergency lighting, emergency generator, transfer switches and circuit breakers), fire alarm systems, nurse call systems, fire and smoke doors, and exit signs.
Reviews completed work assignments; ensures that standards of quality and quantity are met.
Prioritize work orders pertaining to maintenance and repair of job. Participates in inspecting work sites to determine procedure, material and equipment needed to complete work assignment as professionally and quickly as possible.
Demonstrates knowledge of the organizations Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties.
Minimum Qualifications: Individual must be a High School/ Vocational or Trade school graduate; have at least five (5) years experience in a Lead position. Have at least 8 years experience in electrical systems and building trades in a medical center or similar environment. Individual must have electrical theory background and required to know and use the NYC electrical code and OSHA safety codes for hospitals. Individual must be knowledgeable in reading blueprints and diagrams to ascertain layouts, location and specifications of items to be installed. Individual is responsible for preparing work for repairs, maintenance and installations. This individual must be completely familiar and capable of taking over all electrical functions in the event of disaster and or other emergency conditions. Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required.
