The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine seeks a full-time non-tenure track clinician-educator at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor to join the Hand Surgery Division. The ideal candidate will have an interest in academic orthopaedics including resident education and research.
Responsibilities include resident education in the operating room and the clinic. The position will also involve the education of Feinberg medical students. Grand Rounds as well as resident lectures will be required. As a clinician-educator, the emphasis will be on teaching as well as speaking at the national Orthopaedic Hand Conferences. The Orthopaedic Hand Surgery position will provide clinical coverage for the central campus. The current complement of faculty is providing every fourth week of call coverage (difficult to sustain) and this position will allow call coverage to be extended to every fifth week. This will improve physician engagement within the Orthopaedic Hand Group.
Qualified candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery. Candidates must have completed an ACGME accredited Hand Surgery Fellowship. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong research background, and a demonstrated interest in an academic career. The successful candidate must also have excellent interpersonal skills.
