The candidate will serve as Lab Manager for the University of Pittsburgh Biodynamics Laboratory.
- Training lab personnel in proper use of lab equipment and software
- Performing periodic maintenance and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment
- Coordinating data collection for concurrent research projects within the lab
- Preparing the lab for all data collection sessions
- Assisting in laboratory data collection when necessary
- Ensuring all laboratory procedures conform with IRB protocols
- Assisting in submission of IRB protocols
- Assisting in the development of Manuals of Operation for large, multi-year research projects
- Assisting and supervising students, residents, and fellows with research activities
- Performing regular data backups
- Processing participant payments
The Lab Manager must be comfortable multi-tasking, must possess superior attention to detail and excellent interpersonal communication skills. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in bioengineering, mechanical engineering or a closely-related field, with 2 or more years experience, preferably working in a laboratory that performs human motion analysis.
The candidate should have prior experience working in a orthopaedic, biomechanics, sports performance (or similar) laboratory with direct interaction with patients/participants. The employee will be expected to attend and successfully complete Clinical Research Coordinator Training offered by the University of Pittsburgh Office of Research. Employee must successfully complete all required research training modules.
